Fall, Winter and Spring Camping

Visiting the Grand Canyon South Rim during the Fall, Winter and Spring months provides a breathtaking alternative to the usual views during the Summer.  Seeing the canyon "frosted" with snow is quite an experience.  Being prepared for the weather during this months is the key to an enjoyable visit.

If you have decided to stay with us during the off'-season (October 1st thru April 30th) you may experience weather challenges for you and your RV.  The snowfall at the South Rim happen anytime of year.  Generally, it snows between October and April.  Accumulation on the ground can be anywhere from a few inches to several feet.  Temperatures range from highs of 30 to 50 degress and lows of 30 to 10 degrees.  Moderate winds could bring the temperature down also.  While camping at the South Rim you may not be able to get water on your site if the temperature are too low.  There is a filling station; however for when your tanks are low.

Make sure you have plenty of warm clothing and are prepared for winter weather with hats, gloves, boots, etc.  Dressing in several layers is best for a day at the South Rim.  You can remove layers as the temperatures climb during the day and put them on again as the day fades into evening.

In the Spring, snow melt and spring rains may cause puddles and a muddy site.  This is temporary.  The excess water will evaporate very quickly.
